Good people and good news
Over the past few days, months, and years I've been overwhelmed with the amount of fear and horror in the world. While, yes, the things we see on the news are very real and people all over the world are suffering and experiencing terrible things, there is way more hope and love and joy in the world.
These are a few people that I am encouraged by:
Branden Harvey. He started the Goodnewspaper to spread the news of good in the world and to bring others to "march against the hate, fear, and injustice in the world by celebrating and becoming accomplices in good work."
Ruthie Lindsey. She spent most of her life in pain after a tragic car accident, yet she found joy and strength and is using her story to bring light and joy into the world. Watch her story here.
Matt Willingham. He works for an organization called Preemptive Love Coalition. He lives in Iraq and tells stories of hope there. Check out his Instagram to see hope.
Jasmyn Wright. This third grade teacher encourages all of her students to be fighters and "push through" with this morning routine. I love that she is teaching them to be strong, no matter what they face.
Kate Speer. Fighting through anxiety and depression after a horrible medical misdiagnosis, she encourages others that they are enough. Her honesty and vulnerability through Instagram gives me something to empathize with on dark days.
The list could go on, but I just want to encourage you to stop believing in the fear that the media/news/world has given you. This world has a lot of good in it. There is NO reason to be afraid of traveling to new places, being friends with people that are different than you, or sharing your struggles with other people. I'm truly talking to myself here, too.
I challenge you to see the good around you, then spread it all around.
